Lesley has been featured in Time magazine, People, the National Law Journal, and The Sacramento Business Journal for her groundbreaking work in the field of elder abuse.
A 1988 graduate of San Diego School of Law, Lesley was thrust into elder abuse law by accident when her great-aunt, an Alzheimer’s patient, was abused and neglected at a residential care facility. Lesley not only won a substantial settlement for her great-aunt, she succeeded in getting the facility’s license revoked.
Since that time, her practice has focused exclusively on representing abused elders and dependent adults. Lesley believes that by holding nursing homes accountable to provide competent, humane care, she can improve standards and help make things better for all seniors who may need long term care.
Lesley is the past chair of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America Nursing Home Litigation Group and has been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell’s Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. Besides handling individual cases, she teaches seminars on elder abuse around the country to attorneys, nurses, nursing home administrators, and physicians.

Valerie received her law degree from the University of Michigan in 1992, where she was an associate editor of the Michigan Law Review. She practiced law at a large Silicon Valley firm for 10 years before taking time off to have a family. After winning a significant verdict in an elder financial abuse trial in 2008, she decided to devote her practice to elder abuse. She works for the firm as an independent contractor.
